New Years Eve 2015-2016
Driftwood joined the Brownstown Christian Church and the Brownstown Church of the Nazarene for New Years Eve. We had a great time playing dodge-ball and having pool and ping-pong tournaments. We brought the new year in with some worship through song, communion, and a prayer station. It was a good way to bring in the new year.
Live Nativity 2015
The live nativity was a great success this year and we had a number of people turn out to visit with us. The weather was fairly warm as well. A big thanks to The Peoples Bank for letting us use their property for our nativity again this year!
Our youth of all ages spent the evening on December 2nd either practicing for their upcoming program or making decorations for our Christmas tree. We are blessed to have so many youth.
Our 3rd-5th graders went to Superstart this year over at Northside Christian Church in Clarksville, IN. They had a blast!
Driftwood celebrated 200 years as a continuing congregation on September 19th-20th of 2015. Saturday evening had some old-fashioned worship straight out of the hymnal as well as a time of remembrances for past ministers at Driftwood. It was a marvelous evening.
Sunday morning had a somewhat normal service that showcased a variety of worship styles and a few specials from some of our members. We also had brief messages from both Steve Gommel and Michael Goltry. To top it off, Samantha Bowers was baptized!
And what is a a big church celebration without some food? TJ's Barbeque & Catering handled the food preparation and services for us and it was magnificent. A huge thanks to everyone who helped make the Bicentennial celebration a success. To God be the Glory!
Country Cruisin' - 2015
We had a GREAT turnout for our 2015 Country Cruisin' event. With over 70 vehicles registered and numerous guests the show was packed. Participants won door prizes and everybody got to vote for their favorite cars. That, and we had some amazing food provided by TJ's Barbeque & Catering. The weather couldn't have been better. We hope you'll join us next year!
VBS - 2015
This year our theme for VBS was "King of the Hill." Our lessons all centered on Jesus' teachings during his sermon on the mount. Youth collected funds to send to Bethany Christian Mission and also gathered paper products to deliver to Hilltop Christian Camp. We had a great week and I think the kids really had a wonderful time learning more about Jesus. Oh, and they liked country cousin Jim'Bo more than city cousin Lil'Stew. They voted Stew to kiss a pig and Jim'Bo got a pie to the face. Ages 11+ had separate activities held at Driftwood while younger children stayed at VCC.
Mission Trip 2015
Our mission team went down to Kentucky to work alongside of Bethany Christian Mission. They also brought down a large amount of clothing to donate for those in need.
The girls had an exclusive lock-in lead by Jennifer Price on April 10th-11th. They had a great time.
We had a group go out to WinterJam 2015 in Indianapolis. The group got to see Family Force Five, Jeremy Camp, Skillet, and a number of other awesome bands. There were also a few devotions shared by bands throughout the event.
